We have not published who we are yet. JunkGate has not yet published its corporate details or the law that governs its agreements. Until it does, treat what follows as a description of how we behave rather than as something you could enforce against a named company. Still to be published: Contracting entity, Registration number, Registered address, Governing law. The data processing addendum carries the same notice.

Making a data request

If you sent a message to a business that uses JunkGate and you want to know what we hold, have it corrected, or have it deleted, this is exactly what we do and how long each step takes.

Version 1.0, in effect from 10 August 2026. Earlier versions are kept and we will send you any of them on request.

You are probably not our customer. You filled in a contact form, or emailed a business, and that business uses JunkGate to sort real enquiries from spam and scams. We hold a copy of your message briefly, on their behalf, so they can check that we got the decision right.

You never agreed to anything with us. That is the reason this page exists, not a reason to send you away. "You are not our customer" is not an answer, and you will never get it from us.

Who decides what happens to your information

The business you contacted does. Under data protection law they are the controller and we are their processor, which in plain terms means they hold the relationship with you and the rest of your information, and we hold one short-lived copy of one message because they asked us to check it.

So most requests have to reach them, and we make sure they do rather than leaving it to you.

What we do when you contact us

  1. We acknowledge within 3 business days. A real reply from a person, saying we have your request and what happens next.
  2. We work out which business your message went to and route your request to them as the controller, then tell you that we have done it and who it went to.
  3. Where your information exists only inside our own window, we delete our copy too, without waiting for them, and confirm that to you within 7 days. Backups take a little longer and are fully purged within 35 days of the deletion, which we will say again in the confirmation so you are not left guessing.
  4. If we cannot find anything, we tell you what we searched for, rather than sending you a bare "no records found". Often the message has simply passed the 30 day mark and deleted itself already, and that is worth knowing.

What we hold, if we hold anything

That is the lot. Everything is deleted 30 days after it arrives, or sooner if the business has set a shorter window. We do not sell it, we do not use it to build an advertising profile, and we do not use it to build a picture of you across the different businesses you have contacted.

What we will not do, and why

We will not send you a copy of your message ourselves. We cannot be certain you are the person who sent it, and handing a stranger somebody else's enquiry would be a worse failure than being slow. Requests to see what is held go to the business, who is far better placed to check who you are. We will make sure the request reaches them.

We will not ask you for identity documents. To find a record we usually need only the email address the message was sent from and roughly when. If we genuinely cannot tell whether the record is yours, we will say so plainly rather than guess.

We will not charge you. Not for a search, not for a deletion, not for a copy.

We will not tell you what the business does with its own copy. They received your message directly as well, and what they keep is theirs to answer for.

Send the request

Email support@junkgate.com with "data request" in the subject line, so it is not treated as a sales enquiry.

It helps if you include the email address you sent the message from, roughly when you sent it, and which business you were contacting. If you do not have all of that, send what you have and we will work with it.

If you are not happy with how we handled it

Tell us first and we will look at it again. If that does not resolve it, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live, and you do not need our permission or our involvement to do so.
